About the African Diaspora International Film Festival (ADIFF)

Established in 1993, the African Diaspora International Film Festival (ADIFF) is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to presenting films from the United States and around the world that explore the human experience of people of color, with particular focus on people of African descent and Indigenous communities.

Our Mission

ADIFF presents a curated selection of contemporary and classic films that often remain outside mainstream circulation. Through its programming, the festival creates a space for audiences to encounter stories shaped by history, identity, and lived experience.

What We Do

ADIFF organizes festivals and film series in New York City and internationally, including programs in Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Paris, France. The festival brings together filmmakers and audiences through screenings, conversations, and public programs that engage social, cultural, and political realities.

Our programming supports both emerging and established filmmakers whose work reflects diverse perspectives across Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, and the United States.

Our Legacy

For over three decades, ADIFF has introduced hundreds of films to U.S. audiences, many of which have gone on to receive international recognition. In partnership with ArtMattan Films, the festival extends the life of these works through distribution and ongoing access to audiences.
