About the African Diaspora International Film Festival (ADIFF)

Established in 1993, the African Diaspora International Film Festival (ADIFF) is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to presenting contemporary and classic films that explore the human experience of people of color worldwide.

Our Mission

Our mission is to bridge the gap between diverse communities and provide a platform for cinematic works that are often overlooked by mainstream media. We curate a selection of films—ranging from award-winning features to thought-provoking documentaries—that highlight the richness, complexity, and diversity of the global African Diaspora and the Global South.

What We Do

Since its inception, ADIFF has grown into a major international event, hosting its flagship festival annually in New York City, with satellite programs in cities such as Chicago, Washington D.C., and Paris. We provide a space where:

  • Diverse Stories Are Told: We showcase films that tackle social, political, and cultural themes from an authentic perspective.

  • Independent Filmmakers Are Celebrated: We champion the work of emerging and established directors from Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, and the United States.

  • Global Perspectives Are Shared: Our programming encourages cross-cultural dialogue and fosters a deeper understanding of the human experience of peoplee of color worldwide.

Our Legacy

With over three decades of programming, ADIFF has introduced hundreds of films to North American audiences, many of which have gone on to receive international acclaim. Through our partnership with ArtMattan Films, we ensure that these vital stories continue to reach audiences through distribution and educational outreach long after the festival curtains close.
