THE ARMCHAIR / LE FAUTEUIL

US PREMIERE

The Armchair” is a social comedy that breaks down with delight the ripple effect of the nomination of a hard working, knowledgeable, intelligent woman of integrity to the position of General Director at a large government-owned company in a fictional African country. Being the first woman in such a position, she confronts the systematic undermining of her authority by corrupt individuals who see their influence disappear as she takes control. Most challenging for her is to keep peace at home with her jealous husband and irresponsible children. With great humor, “The Armchair” explores problems of favoritism and promotion, management style, sexual harassment, rumors and innuendos, abuse of power, malfeasance, and corruption… In fact, the Armchair can be a bed, a coffin or a springboard to success, depending upon who sits in the Armchair…By Missa Hebie, 2009, 95min, Burkina Faso, French with English subtitles, drama.
